When to go: the music calendar
- Year-round Sema ceremonies — you can see the whirling dervishes in Istanbul throughout the year at a handful of venues, so any season works. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant for sightseeing around it.
- Galata Mevlevi Museum (Tekke) — the most historic Mevlevi hall, near Tünel at the end of İstiklal Caddesi; the ceremony traditionally takes place on Sundays, with tickets sold on-site (it sells out, so arrive early).

Getting around
