FMM Sines – Festival Músicas do Mundo held its 2026 edition from July 17–25, beginning in Porto Covo and continuing in Sines on Portugal’s Alentejo coast. The 2027 dates remain unverified. In its July 27 report, the municipal organiser said that scheduling would be announced after resolving a possible overlap with another major event.
Two destinations shape the trip
The organiser intends to retain the division between Porto Covo and Sines. Choose accommodation according to the part of the programme you want to attend, or allow for a move between the two locations.
A room labelled as being near Sines does not establish an easy late return from Porto Covo. Compare the full route for each night. The official transport page currently says it will return in 2027, so no past festival bus timetable is carried forward here.
Paid venues and public urban space
The 2026 festival included a paid programme at the castle alongside activity in other urban spaces. The municipal review also identifies the Centro de Artes, Avenida Vasco da Gama, Largo Poeta Bocage and Pátio das Artes as part of that edition’s footprint.
Those references explain why one ticket should not be assumed to cover every performance, or why the whole event should not be described as free. Check the new programme’s admission symbol and venue for each concert.
A coastal music itinerary with breathing room
Select a few complete performances rather than trying to move continuously between stages. Leave time to eat and understand the route between the castle area and other locations once the new map is released.
For an accommodation decision, compare a hotel with the organiser’s current camping information. The municipal review describes efforts to improve designated camping and reduce informal camping in 2026. It does not grant permission to camp elsewhere or promise the same facilities in 2027.
Book after the calendar is settled
The official Sines municipal and festival sites provide the best starting point for local orientation. Add a coastal visit on a quieter day, keeping the main music evenings free from long transfers.
Wait for the confirmed 2027 dates before making non-refundable bookings. The previous July pattern is not enough to infer them, particularly when the organiser has explicitly identified a scheduling issue. Once dates are published, settle accommodation and the Porto Covo–Sines connection together.
